May 2021 Updates for Power BI

This month’s updates include a new Preview of visual ToolTips, an ability to quickly create reports from SharePoint lists and an update on sensitivity labels so that they are now inherited “downstream”. But there is more, of course!

  • Modern visual ToolTips Preview
  • Small multiples: now on by default and updated roadmap (Preview)
  • New Field List is now Generally Available
  • Support for removing the sensitivity label in Power BI Desktop

  • Smart Narratives and Anomaly detection are now Generally Available
  • Q&A now supports DirectQuery for Power BI datasets and Azure Analysis Services

Modelling

  • DirectQuery for Power BI datasets and Azure Analysis Services now in Preview
  • Model View updates

  • Connector update: Automation Anywhere
  • Connector update: Vena
  • Connector update: Azure Databricks
  • Connector update: Amazon Redshift

  • Connector deprecation: Microsoft Graph Security

Service

  • Quickly create reports from SharePoint lists (Preview)
  • Reports, apps and dataflows endorsement now Generally Available
  • Datasets hub improvements
  • Quick Edit Paginated Reports from the Service
  • Single sign-on enabled for new on-premises data sources for paginated reports
  • Downstream inheritance for sensitivity labels in Preview

Mobile

  • Work side by side with other apps on your iPad or Android tablet
