Seattle doesn't Settle...

16 June 2017

Our Sydney Director, Tim Heng, has just come back from Seattle where he was attending Microsoft’s Data Insights Summit! Apart from schmoozing with the Excel and Power BI program managers (and making our list of demands known!), he was there to hear about all the cool new features that are coming out in Power BI in the next few months, including but not limited to:

  • A new Analyze feature available in Power BI Desktop that will provide the equivalent of Quick Insights, on your personal computer, to help look at why your results are what they are
  • Storyboards – the ability to take snapshots of your Power BI Desktop reports and chain them together in order to help explain the bigger picture of your data
  • Layers – similar to PowerPoint, having the ability to click through and hide objects in your Power BI reports to help tell that story
  • Drill-through – perhaps the one feature that everyone thought should have been in the original Power BI reports, we will shortly have the ability to click through a chart item to pull open a sub-page that contains more detailed information about a subset of the data.

All these features and many more, soon to arrive at a Power BI Desktop near you – it almost makes up for the changes to their pricing structure!! As they get released, we will continue to update you on the details of the features along with guides on how to get them working. Stay tuned to our newsletter to see them as they’re released each month (sign up below if you’re not already subscribed!).
