AI Blog: ChatGPT 4.5 – Where AI Starts to Feel Human Part 2
6 June 2025
Welcome back to our weekly AI blog. Today, we continue exploring the new model released by ChatGPT, GPT‑4.5.
Limitation of ChatGPT 4.5
There are limitations with ChatGPT (GPT-4.5).
1. LOWER SPEED
Compared to GPT-4o and GPT-3.5, GPT-4.5 has a longer response time, making it less ideal for rapid-fire Q&A. Additionally, heavy emotional and contextual processing may lead to latency issues.
2. HIGHER PRICE
As AI evolves rapidly, it is important for casual or business users who want the AI to work for them to gain a basic understanding of the cost and accessibility of different models. Let’s have a quick comparison of [4] popular models: GPT-4.5, GPT-4o, GPT-4o Mini and Claude 3.7 Sonnet.

From the table, it is clear that GPT-4.5 is the most expensive choice, costing 15 times more than GPT-4o and 25 times more than Claude 3.7. GPT-4.5 is not widely accessible for everyday users. ChatGPT Plus subscribers have a usage limit of 50 messages per week; Pro subscribers (or those who use it via API) have full accessibility.
In contrast, GTP-4o can handle most tasks at a fraction of the GPT-4.5 cost. The most economical choice, GPT-4o mini, which is available for free users has a fair performance at lightweight tasks and small applications. This is an ideal choice for users who seeking to balance the response speed and cost without heavily sacrificing reasoning power.
Great Competitors: Claude 3.7 and Grok 3
Many users have compared GPT-4.5 with Claude 3.7 and found that, sometimes Claude 3.7 has better performance.

With $3 per million input tokens and $15 per million output tokens, Claude 3.7 makes itself a powerful and affordable alternative. This model is accessible to all types of subscribers and free users. Claude 3.7 is a reasoning model with an extended thinking mode, helping to solve complex tasks step-by-step with a visible thinking process.
In comparison:

Grok 3, on the other hand, is designed with real-time interaction and can deliver fast responses, especially for conversations. Integrated with the X platform, the output generated by Grok 3 is more casual and conversational, making it a good choice when the users prefer a chatty AI experience.

Looking Forward: ChatGPT 5.0
GPT-4.5 is an excellent model but that is not the ultimate version. As the existing models update and new models emerge, users may find it increasingly challenging to make the choice with GPT-3.5, GPT-4o, GPT-4.5, Claude, Gemini, Mistral, and others even with guidance on model strengths.
OpenAI’s upcoming model, ChatGPT-5.0, is expected to consolidate the strengths of all the current models: the emotional interaction of 4.5, the response speed of GPT-4o, and the structured reasoning capabilities of research-grade models.
Additionally, ChatGPT-5.0 aims to integrate diverse functionalities into a single and seamless system that handles:
- fast real-time queries
- emotionally rich conversations
- complex reasoning chains
- multimodal understanding.
As OpenAI has indicated, the upcoming GPT-5.0 could work as a true personal assistant that responds to you and your task in real-time.
